Approving Taxpayer's Waiver Request

Taxpayer waiver requests allow taxpayers to formally request relief from certain penalties, interest, or charges associated with their tax obligations. These requests require review by authorized tax administrators, who assess the request and determine whether the waiver should be approved.

Introduction

Moving a manual approval process into the RevOp ecosystem

Taxpayer waiver requests were previously reviewed and approved through a manual process, making it harder to manage requests and maintain a clear record of decisions.

As part of name-witheld, we brought this process into the product, giving tax administrators a structured way to review waiver requests, make informed decisions, and document the reason behind every approval.

The goal was simple: make the approval process clear, deliberate, and traceable without adding unnecessary steps.

User Journey

Defining the approval journey

The workflow follows the way tax administrators naturally approach a request while introducing the right checkpoints before a decision is completed.

Translating the journey into UI

Rather than treating approval as a single button action, the interface guides administrators through a short sequence of review → reason → confirmation → feedback.

This keeps the experience lightweight while ensuring an important administrative decision is intentional and properly documented.

Conclusion

By bringing waiver approvals into name-witheld, we transformed a previously manual process into a clear and traceable digital workflow. The experience gives tax administrators the context they need to review requests, document their decisions, and complete approvals with confidence.
